Kendrick House, built in 1849, is the oldest standing home in Jasper County, Missouri, and one of very few to survive the widespread burnings during the Civil War.

 

It was the home to the Kendrick-Janney family for more than a 130 years, and was the site of Civil War encampments, served as a field hospital multiple times, among other compelling events.

Paranormal Science Lab and Kendrick House present an evening of history and paranormal activity with proceeds benefitting preservation of Kendrick House.

The Olivia Apartments, built in 1906 as an elegant apartment house in the booming mining town of Joplin, with luxuries few dreamed of and fewer could enjoy.  Occupied for 100 years it has seen great tragedy and joy.

 

 

 

It was the home to leading citizens of Joplin in the first half of the 20^th century, was touched by gangsters and outlaws, and the site of a tragic death of 20 year old Marvin Reynolds in 1908.

 

Paranormal Science Lab and The Olivia present an evening exploring elegant history and paranormal experiences.

What does it take to find paranormal evidence

PSL receives questions from people and we will adress those questions here in the blog.

 

Many people have joined PSL for Haunted History Tours and paranormal investigations at historic, antebellum Kendrick House, in Carthage, Missouri, and witness the research process, including video and audio data being recorded.  On average, at least 150 hours of real-time recording occurs every night at the Haunted History Tours.  Recording data during a live paranormal investigation is just the beginning of the research process.

 

The review process takes longer than the recording time to finish as potential evidence must be reviewed multiple times by multiple team members, then analyzed to eliminate natural and man-made causes, and where appropriate multiple experiments are conducted to attempt to recreate the anomaly.  At least two hours of review can be expected for each real time of video or audio recorded-- or about 300 man-hours for each tour. 

 

That being said, we want to share a few things we have discovered from tours.  We have found EVPs (electronic voice phenomenon) with examples including: A woman's voice saying "General Lee" and "Peter Hahn's wish", another woman's voice saying "Oh, Rose" in response to a tour guide telling the story of the slave girl who was left for dead by soldiers and nursed back to health by the Kendrick family.  

 

Photographs and video of a shadow person has been captured on multiple occasions.

 

FLIR (forward looking infra red) images have been captured of an unexplained hot spot in a bedroom window, and of a cold spot in the shape of a woman possibly sitting on the window sill in the parlor.

 

A ball of light has been captured on video on video.

We are excited to launch the PSL blog.  We are new to blogging so bear with us (me).  We welcome all our friends to follow the blog and tell us what you think.  I will try and get something interesting up this weekend.
